The Animal Cage Washer is needed to provide the basic husbandry needs of the rodents housed in the vivarium by cleaning and sterilizing caging and other equipment while maintaining supplies and the general appearance and cleanliness of the facility.
Primary duties include dumping dirty bedding and following standard operating procedures for dealing with potentially hazardous waste, operating cage washers, filling water bottles, wrapping items to be sterilized, operating autoclave, maintaining logs, cleaning shelves, and sweeping and mopping floors.
Must be able to operate cage cleaning/sterilizing equipment; requires continuous standing, ability to push/pull 100 pounds, and lift/carry 50 pounds. Must have H.S. diploma or equivalent.
• This is an essential position which means that punctuality as well as the ability to report to work, even during inclement weather, and on some holidays or other times when BRI suspends operations, is required.
• Obtain initial and annual medical screening and vaccinations. Must be able to maintain medical clearance to enter and work in the vivarium. Able to wear negative and/or positive pressure respirators, and personal protective equipment.
