Overview

A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Lacy-Hulbert Laboratory in the Center for Systems Immunology at Benaroya Research Institute. Research in the laboratory focuses on mechanisms of regulation of the innate immune system, and how defects in these processes impact immune mediated diseases such as Systemic Autoimmunity and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Current active projects include studies of integrin activation of TGF-beta in mucosal immunity, mechanisms of host response to viral infections and cellular damage, and regulation of innate immune signaling. The laboratory use a range of approaches, including mouse models, human clinical samples, in vitro organoid cultures and forward genetic screens. The successful candidate may work in one or more of these areas, depending on experience and expertise. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include conceptualizing and executing experiments, data analysis, laboratory record keeping, oral and written presentation of experimental results. The research associate will be expected to work collaboratively with other staff members in discussing projects, implementing experiments and preparing manuscripts and grant applications. The position may involve oversight/ supervision of technicians or graduate students.

Qualifications

Applicants with good organizational and analytical skills are encouraged to apply. A PhD in immunology or a related field (such as host-pathogenesis/microbiology/ virology) and experience in immunology, cell biology and/or molecular biology are required. Experience of bioinformatics analysis and models of autoimmunity or inflammation are preferable but not essential. Applicants with 2 years or less of postdoctoral experience preferred.

Compensation

Starting annual salary $67,744 - $77,488 depending on years of postdoctoral experience
