Overview

The Marketing and Communications Specialist III is an essential position in the BRI Marketing and Communications department (MarCom).  The person in this role will produce and maintain inventory of high-quality communications materials, plan both internal and external events and be a part of an inspired team.  You will be a BRI brand ambassador who works closely with the media, public, scientific community and internal staff to elevate BRI.  You are creative and have experience identifying and utilizing channels to reach a wide variety of audiences.  You are also able to produce targeted written and multimedia content for various audiences.

The job requires a person who values working in and with a team, who is an experienced writer and someone who enjoys engaging with community and media.  You are a proven multi-tasker with experience in a deadline-driven environment. This role requires an individual who is organized, a dependable self-starter and able to lead a number of tasks and projects. It is critical that this team member embrace both exciting and mundane tasks with equal gusto and attention.

We offer a hybrid work schedule. On site minimum of 3 days per week - to be agreed upon.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute internal and external events to support BRI strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, plan and attend community events as a brand ambassador for BRI.
  • Create, edit, and review content for internal and external communications.
  • Represent the MarCom department in contacts with BRI staff and leadership, board members; and with outside contractors and agencies.
  • Coordinate public relations and media opportunities.
  • Responsible for growing BRI’s reputation and increasing visibility to various communities leading to increased web traffic, blog readership, engagement and support.
  • Serve as project manager and project lead for various marketing and communication related projects.
  • In consultation with the Director and in collaboration with MarCom colleagues, PR agency and other collaborators, create and manage editorial calendar aligned with events, promotions and in support of BRI’s strategic plan.
  • Help write and produce high-quality communications materials and fact sheets
  • Other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field and
  • 5+ years’ work experience in public relations, journalism or communications role or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Experience in medical research or a healthcare related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a non-profit or agency environment is preferred.
  • Experience in public relations or related field.
  • Strong writing skills, scientific or research specific writing preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organization and from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to occasionally work outside of normal business hours
  • Knowledge and experience with relevant computer software programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Publisher, InDesign or others.

Compensation

$79,680 to $125,100 per year
